What is YouTube dark mode?

Dark mode on YouTube is a neat little option available on both android and on desktop. This feature applies a dark color(as shown on right) to its UI instead of default white (as shown on left).

Why The Dark mode on Youtube?

It was such as huge relief to see this feature! as whenever I opened my YouTube on my app or on desktop at night. I was hit with a very bright white light from the loading screen of YouTube. It was also difficult to scroll with the white light being constantly projected in my face.

Benefit of dark mode on YouTube

  • Less strain on Eyes
  • Uses less battery on devices with AMOLED display 

How to Enable Youtube Dark mode?

Dark Mode On Andriod/iOS

  1. Open your YouTube App
  2. click on your Profile Picture
  3. select “Settings”
  4. Click on “General”
  5. Toggle the dark theme

  1. Open up youtube.com
  2. Click on your profile picture in the top right corner of your screen
